Testers' Day - with active safety in focus

On April 25th, at the AstaZero test track in the west of Sweden, AstaZero and Test Site Sweden West arranged Testers´ Day. This event included both presentations about new test systems with higher testing demands but also actual testing.

Testers´ Day started with presentations from Europ NCAP, Denso, Volvo Group and WSP, and the day continued with various exhibitions and demonstrations out on the test track.

Approximately 65 engineers from many different companies were on site, eager to gain new knowledge.

The presentation by Aled Williams from Euro NCAP focused on that more tests will be needed and that active safety will be in focus from now on. Some other news are that a couple of scenarios should be tested in low light and that there shall be three different test scenarios for automatic braking. Read more about the new regulations here

Aled Williams concluded his presentation by saying, "Active safety has a lot of potential and is the focus of the roadmap of 2020."

"The demo executions are a way to increase knowledge and understanding of the challenges faced by engineers, linked to both current and future European requirements." Says Maria Kling, project leader Testers´ Day 2017. Maria also enhances that by performing demos it is possible to gain knowledge about the development that takes place in the field of active safety testing.

Interviews where made with two of the exhibitors (ABD and DSD) and with Niklas Lundin at Asta Zero:
