Lindholmen Demo Theatre
The Lindholmen Demo Theatre was set up at the ITS World Congress in Stockholm 2009. The Demo Theatre is based on the concept developed and used at Lindholmen Science Park. The purpose is to play scenarios in a theatrical form for the audience to show interaction between the actors in a transport chain. Different work environments can be displayed, i.e. traffic management, driving, terminal, etc and the positive effects of ITS will be highlighted.

Background
Intelligent Transport Systems and Services (ITS) is the link between a society’s travelers, vehicles and infrastructure. Technology integrated into the transport system’s infrastructure and vehicles, enables monitoring and management of the traffic environment in a way that is more efficient and ecologically sound.
The 16th annual ITS World Congress in Stockholm was an opportunity for us to demonstrate our expertise and achievements in the field.
Purpose
The focus for the Demo Theatre was to show a broad description of ITS and its influences. The Demo Theatre enabled visualization of complex services and systems by showing them in a context. It facilitated illumination of the needs of the actors and what benefits they could gain from ITS. Issues in the goods- and personal- transport area was highlighted and made comprehensible. The demonstrations were to:
- Show how to enhance safety, security, efficiency and sustainability
- Promote Swedish and Nordic research and cooperation
- Communicate challenges and restraining factors
Demo Theatre scenarios
The Demo Theatre was market as one common event even though the five different scenarios were set together by different stakeholders. This was also one of the synergy effects of the cooperation. The slogan was “The DEMO THEATRE - where ITS comes to life”
The five different scenarios demonstrated how ITS-solutions, in the future, will have an affect on peoples’ lives. They also showed how different interests and parties can collaborate to achieve the ideal combination for efficient, secure and green transport and commuter solutions.
SECURE TRANSPORTS
You will follow an intermodal transport of dangerous goods which will highlight the interplay between public and private stakeholders when relations and time are important.
DAILY COMMUTER
Follow a daily commuter on a pleasant journey to work. Let us show you how ITS-enabled commuter services for different modes of public transportation and cars will make your everyday life easier.
COOPERATIVE SYSTEMS
Imagine if all vehicles and infrastructure could cooperate; V2V, V2I. Experience the benefits as you follow us into the future and find out what you as a stakeholder can do today, to make it happen.
SAFE AND SUSTAINABLE TRANSPORT SOLUTIONS:
What if goods can make decisions like humans? Follow how our talking goods manage challenges that appear along the way to its final destination.
EXTENDED E-TRANSACTIONS – THE BASE FOR ITS DEPLOYMENT:
Join this scenario to understand an extended concept of electronic transactions beyond e-payments, including the collection, processing, distribution and presentation of digital information.
